The What For, group chat version
If a column provokes a thought - or a suggestion - share it with other subscribers and me
Today I’m announcing a brand new addition to my Substack publication, The What For by Brad Todd, and it’s a new subscriber chat.
This is a conversation space exclusively for subscribers—kind of like a group chat. I’ll post questions and updates that come my way, and you can jump into the discussion.
I’ve enjoyed interacting with readers one-on-one about columns and I think broadening the conversation could add something for everyone. Join in!
So far, I’ve heard people who read “The $50 Sweatshirt Acquisition Tour” and told me their tips and tricks for the college search process. After “Have You Called Your Mama Today?” I got lots of stories about other people’s amazing mamas. When I excoriated the JFK Library’s shambolic award in “Profile in Partisanship,” I realized maybe I’m not the only person who’s been frustrated with that joke of an award over the years.
These are conversations that need more input - and I hope you’ll feel comfortable dropping in the chat after you read a column on The What For - or check in between posts for quick questions and thoughts. See you there!
How to get started
Get the Substack app by clicking this link or the button below. New chat threads won’t be sent sent via email, so turn on push notifications so you don’t miss conversation as it happens. You can also access chat on the web.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! Jump into my thread to say hi, and if you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ.
